Diablo Immortal was a good idea, Activision claims



The success of Call of Duty Mobile served as a cornerstone for Diablo Immortal and now Activision Blizzard is increasingly convinced that the same will happen to the upcoming mobile game from the Diablo series.

When Diablo Immortal was introduced in 2018, fans of the popular series showered Blizzard with negative reactions. Fans were angry because it was decided that this part of Diablo would be done as a mobile game. Blizzard expected such reactions, but not in the amount they received, so even his co-founder had to calm the angry audience.

Activision Blizzard has no intention of changing its strategic approach to mobile video games. On the contrary, CFO Dennis Durkin is happy with the financial success of Call of Duty Mobile, a game that came out in October last year. According to him, this is real proof that Activision is on the right track when it comes to mobile headline development.

"A lot of things will come to cell phones. CoD Mobile got off to a good start, but we’ve just scratched the surface of ideas which franchise can be available on cell phones. We know that this is a good opportunity for new games from our series to be on numerous platforms. Free-to-play games can coexist with another business model, which can be a significant addition to existing franchises. Diablo Immortal was a good idea, thanks to the success of Call of Duty Mobile and will not be the only game to follow in that footsteps, ”he said.

Diablo Immortal is still in the development process. Activision said Blizzard intends to expand internal testing of the said game in the next few weeks. However, there are still no signs of the announcement of the official release of this mobile title.
