The pirate game Skull & Bones was reportedly returned to the beginning of development so that it could be more similar to Fortnite

The fate of Ubisoft’s multiplayer game about pirates is still uncertain, and some claim it has totally changed the model.

Skull & Bones is a Ubisoft game that originated from the former Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag, but although it was announced in 2017, it has not yet raised its anchor. That it won’t happen so soon was confirmed by the game’s total absence from Ubisoft’s Forward program last week.

It was only later that a report appeared on the Video Games Chronicle page citing an anonymous source claiming that game development was back to square one. The people who led the development of Skull & Bones are no longer in these leading positions, and the entire monetization model has reportedly changed.

If the unofficial information is true, Skull & Bones will not be a premium paid game. Instead, Ubisoft is reportedly targeting a model like the one used by Fortnite. The game itself will be free to play and will constantly receive new content. Ubisoft recently decided on a similar tactic with its first battle royale shooter Hyper Scape.

It has been more than a year now since we have not heard any information about Skull & Bones. And the last time we heard about that game, it was postponed for at least the third time.
