New Sony TVs to be "ready for PlayStation 5"

Sony has announced the first two TV models to be sold under the "Ready for PlayStation 5" label.

Most of today’s TVs on the market will be ready for new consoles. But some will be more "ready" than others, that is, they will be able to take advantage of all the benefits of the new consoles from the start, even in theory if they can not deliver it themselves. We are talking here primarily about the display of games at 120 frames per second at 4K resolution, which requires a newer version of the HDMI 2.1 slot.

In the case of Sony, such new TVs will be labeled "Ready for PlayStation 5" to be an advertisement for the console itself. In addition to the aforementioned support for the 4K120 standard (which again depends on the game), Sony’s Bravia TVs will have Game Mode to reduce latency.

Interestingly, Sony TVs work in tandem with the DualSense controller, so both the TV and the console will be able to turn on at the same time. The TV remote control will also be able to be used as a media playback controller on the PlayStation 5.

So far, Sony has announced two TV models ready for the PS5. The first is the X900H LED TV ready for 4K and 120 fps with an input lag of 7.2 milliseconds. The other is the Z8H which is capable of displaying 8K resolution.
