Cyberpunk 2077 will not be able to be played via subscription
The CD Projekt RED team categorically rejected the possibility of their Cyberpunk 2077 appearing as part of a subscription service upon release.
The CD Project team wants to bring their upcoming hit Cyberpunk 2077 to as many platforms as possible. The game is thus planned for PC (Steam, GOG, EGS, GeForce Now), PS4, PS5, XBO, XSX and Stadium. By comparison, they didn't launch the game on multiple platforms until Witcher 3 at the same time, and even then they launched the game * only * on three platforms.
In the meantime, some subscription platforms have also appeared, such as the Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Now, and the CD Project RED has enabled its Witcher on one of them. History may repeat itself once with Cyberpunk 2077, but it is ruled out that the game will be available as part of some subscription service immediately upon release.
Such hopes were mentioned because Microsoft has a marketing agreement with the CD Project around Cyberpunk 2077. Special editions of the Xbox One console for Cyberpunk have already been announced, and Microsoft is proud to point out support for the Smart Delivery system where owners of the XBO version of Cyberpunk 2077 get a free XSX upgrade when buy that console. But that’s where the benefits stop, and the Xbox Game Pass will have to wait a while until it finds a new CD Project game in its catalog.
