NBA 2K21 will have two different covers for old and new consoles

2K Sports has revealed which basketball players will adorn the covers of their NBA 2K21 simulation. It turned out that the game would have two covers depending on the versions of the game.

The NBA 2K series usually has a minimum of two stars on the cover - the main one and the additional one. In the case of the NBA 2K, the standard cover was adorned by Anthony Davis, while the Legend Edition featured Dwayne Wade. This year's edition may go a step further than that, so that there will be three different basketball players on the covers of the game.

Namely, it has been confirmed that the PC, PS4 and XBO versions will have one cover with Dame Lillard from the Portland Trail Blazers, while the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions will have another cover with the young Zion Williamson from the New Orleans Pelicans.

The association is clear here - a new generation player (year 2000) to play on the new generation of consoles. However, Williamson is a kind of precedent here because he has only one season in the NBA league behind him. All previous basketball players who have appeared on the covers of the NBA 2K series have had several seasons behind them, and the cover came to them in recognition of their form and success. For example, it took LeBron James 11 years to get his cover, and James Harden seven.

Whether it’s fair to them or not is a different story now, but the fact is that 2K Sports has the right to promote their game with whoever they want.
