Players on PC and consoles will not play Apex Legends together if they do not want to

Apex Legends will soon get a cross-play option, but Respawn Entertainment has reassured all those who fear that PC players will dominate the matches.

The popular battle royale shooter Apex Legends should get shared multiplayer later this summer, ie support for cross-play. As with most other games, this form of gaming will be optional, and the Respawn development studio says it won't open the door to trampling on gaming players by those playing on a PC with a mouse and keyboard.

Addressing TikTok (yes, developers are now announcing things via TikTok), Respawn's Jak Smullin said console players should not be afraid of cross-play because they will cross targets with PC players only in a specific scenario. Namely, only those who have someone who plays on the PC in their team will go to the lobby with PC players. If everyone on the Apex Legends team is playing on consoles, no matter which one, the matches will be played exclusively against the players on the consoles.

Apex Legends should also appear on mobile platforms this year, but for now there is no information on whether there are plans to merge these versions with others. Cross-play is currently announced for PCs and consoles only.
