Bungie has revealed that Destiny 3 is not in the plans, but that's why there are three expansions for Destiny 2. Here you go!
Bungie’s development team yesterday revealed the future of their franchise under the name Destiny. We did not expect the announcement of the third part and we did not get it, but we also did not expect the announcement of the three expansions that will come out in 2020, 2021 and 2022. We got that again.
Season of Arrivals is the name of a new, current season that has already started. Mysterious ships in the shape of black pyramids appear in the game and a new big battle ensues, which includes, among other things, an additional exotic quest and a cave called Prophecy in which the secret of darkness is hidden! Sounds serious!
The new expansion for the game will be called Beyond Light, it will be paid, and it arrives on September 22 this year. The players will be taken to cold Europe, where they will fight Eramis who is trying to gather his army. Expansion brings additional raid and elemental power to Statis.
Some things from the first Destiny will also return, including strike missions and the Cosmodrome. Future expansions are called The Witch Queen (2021) and Lightfall (2022). We have no specific information about them yet.
As announced, Destiny 2 will be available on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. The good news is that existing PS4 and / or XBO owners on new consoles won't have to buy the extra content they already have - everything is transferred to the new consoles free. There will also be cross-play between the same platforms, meaning players on the PS4 and PS5 will be able to play together, just like players on the XBO and XSX.
It has also been confirmed that the game on the new consoles will run in 4K resolution at 60 frames per second. Admittedly, it’s not entirely clear whether this will be native 4K or again some upscaling trick.
