Free GTA 5 attracted 61 million users to the Epic Games Store
Epic Games recorded a record number of active users on the Epic Games Launcher with the gift of several great games last month.
The Epic Games Store last month had a big campaign called The Vault in which users were given away some great games for free such as Grand Theft Auto V, Civilization VI and Borderlands: The Handsome Collection. And yes, they also shared ARK: Survival Evolved, but I don’t know if I would call that game great.
Now that The Vault is over, Epic Games has boasted amazing results. In the last 30 days, the Epic Games Store had 61 million active users, the most recorded of the checks on the day GTA 5 was shared. Back then, servers were breathing hard with 13 million active users.
At Epic Games, they are overjoyed by this interest of the audience and say that the final result exceeded all their expectations. Of course, that record score is still lower than what Steam achieves, which has nearly a hundred million active users on a monthly basis. But, it should be viewed like this - Steam has been around for more than 15 years, while Epic Games Store is still a relatively young platform and has only been around for less than two years.
